So let’s go, Australian Made Boom Gel Stain FAQS:
What substrates does Boom Gel Stain work on?
Wood, Glass, Metal, Fabric, Pottery, Wicker, Concrete, Laminate and just about anything else you want to stain!
Using Boom’s Metallic Gold Gel Stain: Please note, our metallic gold gel stain is the ‘heaviest’ product in the range, therefore, always pour onto glass decorator items FIRST and on your canvas art pieces, pour it LAST!
What are the approximate water dilution percentages needed to create various treatment?
As a Paint, Heavy Glaze or Antiquing and Dry Brushing – use straight from the bottle or use a 10% ratio of water to dilute.
As a Light Glaze, Light White Wash or for Light Antiquing – use a 10% to 30% ratio of water to dilute.
As a Wood Stain (Bare Wood) or a dye for Stained Surfaces – use a 30% to 50% ratio of water to dilute.
For Bare Distressed Wood, use a 50% to 70% ratio of water to dilute.
For Fabric (up to 85% for spraying) – use a 60% to 80% ratio of water to dilute.
For Concrete and Pottery – We highly recommend sealing your concrete or pottery with one or two coats of matte or gloss sealant (depending how porous the concrete or pottery) prior to using BOOM. Use BOOM straight from the bottle or use anywhere up to a 90% ratio of water to dilute.
Ah, and for Glass – use straight from the bottle or up to a 30% ratio of water to dilute. For longevity of your designer item, we highly recommend an ozone friendly spray gloss or matte sealer, such as ‘National Art Materials’ sealants.
Can Boom Gel Stain be used outdoors?
Yes. For a high gloss finish, seal with Boom Gel Stain Gloss Finish. For better protection and a higher gloss, repeat coats of sealer as indicated on the product’s instructions. High Gloss Sealers will help achieve a three dimensional look.
